SFC Reed

Sergeant First Class Scott G. Reed was born in Phoenix, Arizona on 6 July 1972. He enlisted into the United States Army in February 1997.  He completed Basic Training and Advance individual training, and Airborne school at Fort Benning, GA.   He first served as a Gunner in the 82 Airborne Division, 504 PIR Fort Bragg, NC.  He re-classed to 92A and attended AIT at Fort Lee, VA. Following his reclassification he served as a Squad Leader and Section Sergeant at 584 Maintenance BN, Fort Campbell, KY. He then served as a Section Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division, 2-44 ADA, at Fort Campbell, KY.


Sergeant First Class Reed joined the U.S. Army Recruiting Command in 2003 and has been assigned to the Syracuse Recruiting Battalion, Montgomery Recruiting Battalion and now at HQ USAREC.  He performed duties as a Field Recruiter, Center Leader, Field First Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant in Afghanistan. He is currently performing duties as the Operations NCO, G3/5 Programs Division USAREC HQ. After 20 years of service, he retired on 1 March 2017.


Since SFC Reed’s retirement from the Army, he has been a JROTC instructor for Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL where he takes pride in teaching cadets how to become the next generation of great citizens


Sergeant First Class Reed is married to the former Tabotha Hembree, owner of Apples Florist in Falkville, AL. They have 3 children, daughter Amber (24), daughter Chelsey (23) and son Devin (19). He also has three grandchildren, Layna Mayer, Hensley Mayer, and Penelope Phelps.


Military education includes – Warrior Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Army Recruiting Course, Station Commander Course, and Advanced Leaders Course. He has also received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University and received his Master in Business from Columbia Southern University. His Military Awards include:  Defensive Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, (4 oak leaf cluster) the Army Achievement Medal, (silver oak leaf cluster) the Army good conduct medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism medal, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Overseas Ribbon, the Gold badge w/ 3 Sapphires, the Recruiter Ring and the Glen E. Morrell Award.

Civilian Education – Bachelor of Business at Saint Leo University and a Masters of Business “Marketing” at Columbia Southern University.
